I stumbled upon this book at a trivial time in my life. I am a firm believer that the best lessons come from living, or sitting and listening to elders. I always feel a connection to this book when I read it. Her stories and lessons that she speak of in the text not only connects you to her as a person but also as a mentor. I have had my book for a little over a year and it has definitely had influence and gave me clarity on many things in my life. I also have her book Titled “O’s Little Book of Happiness”, that was a Christmas gift but a very good one! This book is a must!

I bought this book for my MIL after attending the Oprah’s Live the Life you Want event with her. Since I wasn’t going to be seeing her for several weeks, I decided to read a little of it myself… I read the entire thing then ordered several more copies to give to friends. This is a terrific handbook for living life, enhanced by the diversity of experiences painting beautiful examples of the concepts in motion – making it a very relatable book. While reading it one night my 11 year old son sat down beside me so I started reading it aloud to him. He enjoyed it so much he stayed for several chapters and asked some terrific questions I’m not sure we ever would have had a segue for otherwise.

This was the Book Club read at our local library a couple of months ago. Loved it so much, I bought a copy for myself and one to gift to a friend. Typical Oprah fare with good advice on how to live a full, balanced life and why it’s not selfish to put your own needs before the needs of others. Would recommend this book to anyone from teens to oldsters.

What I know for sure is that Oprah wrote a fine book. It’s a series of short essays with the theme of what Oprah knows for sure. She sometimes tells how she got there. It’s wonderful. I feel better having just read it.It’s a pretty book. One made for keeping forever or giving as a gift. After reading just part way I sent a copy to my grown daughters. I hope they love it as much as I do.

I’ve been enjoying reading a chapter a morning. It’s a lot to take in so not really the best say to read it. It’s more of a few page daily inspiration and I may use it that way again in the future! It’s a nice compilation of inspiring or thoughful insights.

I have followed Oprah since she began her TV show in Chicago. There is no other human being on this earth that has changed my life more, for the better, than Oprah. This book is so appreciated because it is a combination of all that she has learned and she is so giving and loving enough to share her wisdom. Oprah: I was lucky enough to be on your show, with three of my friends, one time. I have never met Oprah, but I couldn’t love love her more. Thank you for the many years that you have helped us all to grow. I remember the tears that I shed when you retired from your daily talk show. I downloaded this book into my Kindle in the written and audio form, so I will be able to enjoy it for many years to come. Thank you so much for this amazing book.

Oprah has been one of my heroes since I was a kid (especially after finding out we are the same ENFJ personality type). I always admired her ability to listen and connect with someone and I see that intimacy in each of her interviews even today. This book is a compilation of a column out of the O magazine, called What I Know for Sure. I am sure that it is a great column in the magazine but I can tell you it’s better as a collection. My only regret about reading this is that I read it too fast. Most chapters are worth absorbing again because of how thought provoking and profound they are. Oprah manages to always be insightful and instructive by way of her candid openness that prevents her from coming across as preachy or audacious even though she is very spiritual. I needed a lot of her positive energy about the general good that exists (found in the little things) and that how we are all in this together, and there is no “us vs. them.” In some ways this book honors its back cover and is very much a fire lighter but at the same time convinces the reader to take time to heal – to aim – before firing the arrow.

This was truly an amazing book. Not only does it allow you to take a peek into Oprah’s life but it connects her to you on a more personal level. This book guides you through your own daily joys and struggles while you introspectively examine how you respond. I love many of the quotes and even plan to have some framed. I come away from this book believing I can be better because I am better and to take some time time to breath because many times the answers are in the stillness.

This book is chock full of all the fun, good sense, great advice and polish that our beloved Oprah has so generously shared with us over the years! You learn so much about Oprah, and yourself in the journey of this read! I first listened to it on BOCD with Oprah narrating, which added even more to the experience! It was so good I bought the book, too! Thank you Oprah!

This book has some wonderful advice of self-acceptance, knowing you are worth and how to share your kindness to others. Her voice and timing felt as though you were talking to an old friend that was passing on their wisdom. While the end of the book I felt was a bit repetitive it really drives homes the point and you cannot control the world around you but in this moment and this time you can decide on what truly will make your heart full of love by trusting your instincts and allowing time for yourself.

I have read a lot of spiritual books. But this by far has been the most touching for me. It has really spoke to my core.At first I thought it was going to be ego motivated. But let me a sure you it is not. It really speaks to and from the heart. There are so many thought provoking passages that I am going back again to read it all over. I have been so deeply moved by this book that I plan on buying at least four more copies to give as gifts. Oprah I cannot thank you enough for this book. You are truly a beautiful spirit!!

She is right on!! I really like that she places so much importance on reflecting and getting in touch with childhood feelings. The ability to feel what it was like when your responsibilities didn’t have so much weight. We take ourselves way to seriously and forget how to have pleasure lead us toward what’s best for us. I benefited from her words.

I will recommend this book to everyone in my life. I will purchase this book for all the women in my life. I gave this book review 5 stars because it touched on every major point in my life the very belief I held in my heart that took me to the other side of the challenges this book confirmed my heart was on the right path. At all times-during those situations I looked within for the answers and my heart has never failed to protect me. Oprah inspires me to continue on my path and step it up a notch or more. At 53 I removed myself from a 13 year relationship and struggled with at my age a chance to love again is over. Today is six months since I asked him to leave. I now know without a doubt my life is just getting started. This was the perfect book to read and inspire me to continue on with all that I am. I do know this that we are not here to be loved it is to love others – along the way if love finds us as it will, it’s a bonus. I realized when I left the love for myself was greater than that dysfunctional relationship. I wake up each day in wonder and an open heart because that is just who I am and I love every fiber of me. Thank you Oprah for the confirmation that my path is mine to create and if a situation doesn’t align with all that I am it’s ok to walk away.

As I have gotten older I love to gift things with meaning and purpose. This book is a gift that can be shared and passed-on. I gifted this book to Mom who noted: it was warmth to my soul and that the content spoke to her in so many ways. She also noted she is going to gift this book to her older sister. Great books like this should always be passed on.

I will admit that while I admire Oprah, I’ve never considered myself a fan…before now. I wanted something to pass the time on my hour plus commute and based on reviews decided to get the audio version of this book. The format of the book (and audio recording) were just up my alley. Not long, droning chapters, but instead short insights. I found myself literally laughing out loud, tearing up, and extremely motivated as I listened to the audio book. Had a number of favorite passages and since writing and driving is a no-no, I had to get the book. Highly recommend to anyone.

Ms. Winfrey guides the reader through her life while depositing morsel of proven wisdom. My understanding and perception of the icon I call the O has forever been changed. I have re examined many of my core values as I am in a place of rebirth. I thank the O for this and the numerous pieces of reference literature she refers to in the book. What I know for sure is the O is the truth. thanks for the resource. Hu.

1st of all, the cover is very nice. Each day I read a story from the book. Oprah successfully transform her energy, her positive thinking in all aspects of life & her emotions into the book. There are a lot of small & simple things in life that we don’t even notice for a second, they will be uncovered beautifully in this book. This is very beautiful. This is very inspirational. What I know for sure is that anyone who reads this book, especially women would feel inspired and recharged with enthusiasm to Be real, learn to love themselves and feel gratitude for the gift of life and strive to do their best. What makes this book interesting and endearing ( I completed it in a day) is that Oprah has shared her own stories – anecdotes, mistakes, failures – most women can relate to these situations and what she learnt from each experience.

So maybe many of these stories you had heard before if you’re a fan of Oprah… but what a joy it is to have it all in one compact place. Much of what she has to say is worth repeating. She ties in her personal experiences with life lessons in a way that is relatable – even though you may have very little in common with Oprah. She pulls out quotes that hit home and help us to make sense of the world from a perspective we maybe never considered before.Listening to this book as opposed to reading it is also quite helpful. I can be on the road or cooking in my kitchen and take in the stories and lessons as I work instead of setting aside reading time (which isn’t always easy). I am so thankful that Oprah did the voice over for this book… it is such a joy to hear her relish in the details – adding her own cadence, emphasis, and emotion. I could probably “hear” her voice in my head if I read the words off of the page, but it is so much better to truly hear it from her directly. This audio CD is worth every penny. I need these clever bits of wisdom to ground me and motivate me. I’ll be listening to these CDs over and over for many days and many years to come. Thank you Oprah – for doing what you do and for always trying to not only better yourself, but help us to all better ourselves as well.

This is such a great “cup filler” book! I was looking for a book to read at night before bed that would be a sort of non-religious devotional, and this fits the bill. So much of what she says hits home for me. The physical book itself is superb, as well. I love the woven style cover and the rough pages; it even comes with a ribbon bookmark attached to the spine. Beautiful cover-to-cover!

I loved this book, it warmed my soul and spirit. I caught myself smiling while reading it, and saw clearly through my currently clouded existence. I hope to put some of these simple methods to use to find my true self once again. I often have felt stuck or lost in my decisions, and this book reminded me that I have the power. My only complaint is due to this being collections from her o magazine piece, it is a bit repetitive. It is organized well, and really motivational, I feel like Oprah knows me, or as if we have lived some of the same journey, which is ironic because I’m not black or a celebrity.

I moved from France to the US three years ago, and before that the only thing I knew about Oprah was that she had a talk show with her name.I know now that she is so much more than that and I was curious to read this book to know more about her.And then something unexpected happened, I know a little bit more about her indeed, however I know now much more about myself, and this is the beautiful strength of this book.I highly recommend it and once you are done with it, to share it with somebody you care about and you know is having a difficult time or ”lost”.ps: I apologize for my English, still work in progress.

If you don’t know anything about Oprah . If you don’t know anything about living freely and unattached this book is guaranteed to change your life. I’ve taken so many words from this book and posted them where I can see them daily . The things she knows for sure I also know to be completely truth and it was beautiful to know how connected she is to the universe . She was my role model before reading this book but now that I have truly been able to see into her soul and I know that was the right choice for me . Take some time it’s a short read full of more insight than a lifetime.

What I know for sure — if you’re looking for inspiration, and/or beginning your search to self-actualization pick up this approachable, real, relatable story of Oprah’s journey to where she is today. I think I’ve read it 10 times now! Then, pick up one of Gary Zukov’s books, The Seat of the Soul, followed by one of Echart Tolle’s book, A New Earth. I think I read them in that order. The messages in each booked changed the way I interact and exist in the world — truly inspirational!

First of all, it’s Oprah. Second of all, her beliefs, sentiments, vulnerability and achievements are what we all have inside of us in some fashion. Bottom line, we all hold the power. She in reality is not anymore special than you and me, it’s the good intentions you put out into the world that elevates you to greatness. The book reminds you of this. I strongly recommend the audio version. Her narration is perfect.

I didn’t know I needed this book in my life until I found myself crying my eyes out within the first few pages of it. Not because it was extremely powerfully written or dramatic in any sense like you would expect a book to be if it makes you cry. Her words are simple. They’re straight to the point and they’re honest. Everything she says about loving yourself, about loving others, and about how you should live your life is so genuine and wholeheartedly shared. There isn’t really anything I could say that could properly express just how great of a book this is. Read this if you want to be a better human being. Read this if you need clarity and support and guidance, because you will find it here.

It well written, encouraging, inspirational and very helpful. Oprah gave great examples of life experiences and occurrences that helped me have more understanding and knowledge of me not being the only one who’ve suffered with many of the issues, violations and abuse people put you through in your life time. Everyone has a story and I plan and hope to tell mine. It’s real and definitely unique in its own right. My story should be told not only because therapeutic affect I will receive but also I know it will help and be beneficial to others who have been though similar things as I in life. Oprah’s book was a wonderful experience for me.

I highly recommend the audio book if you are an Oprah fan as it’s narrated by her. She’s wonderful and it was really great to hear her voice and affirmations on my way to work in the morning.

It just doesn’t get any better than this! Oprah’s book is just brimming with little nuggets of wisdom and inspiration. She writes with such perspicacity, and I am so grateful that she put her profound knowledge in one lovely little package! It’s difficult not to take a highlighter to the entire book, because Oprah has such a unique gift of expressing her opinion (or in this case, what she knows for sure) without coming across as condescending in any way. The practicality in her messages is what makes this book so invaluable.

May be one of my favorite books I’ve ever read! This is a book that you will want to read again every year. Love having the book in my possession, although I may even get the audio version since I loved it so much. Very helpful as a source of guidance to help you live a full, happy life. As a young girl in my twenties, I appreciated everything about this book and actually feel as if it fed my soul. I never wanted it to end.

Good book! Easy read. She is spot on in her observations. Always be present and learn to find joy in life’s simple things. After reading this book I started my own online journal focusing on things I was grateful for each day. Thank you Oprah for helping me to focus on the positive.

I absolutely love the clarity and honesty of Oprah Winfrey. I am pretty clear on the things I know for sure…and it was so encouraging reading this book because I truly understood the growth of the journey. I would recommend this book to anyone, especially women who are trying to answer the question, “What do you know for sure?” I feel this book earned the five star rating I gave because like the author…it doesn’t disappoint. Straight, honest and empowering!!!

I spend most of my time reading self-help and business related books. When my wife recommended this to my I decided to take a look at her hard back copy, then quickly bought the kindle version.Oprah has broken down each point she shares in compelling life stories that convey the principles she’s learned in her life. It’s a great way to relate to each topic and each principle is only a short read. This is one of those moments where you often relate to a similar belief – and her own experience confirms that principle in practise with your own.Great book, I highly recommend it.

l adore this person! Success and fame did not change the humanity and true empathy this lady feels for her brothers and sisters . Oprah never forgot who she is…part of this world and not above it. Her book makes you pause and ponder her insight on how to be a more fulfilled person. Oprah’s writing style is comfortable and very relatable. She has so many valuable lessons to guide you through our crazy lives. Oprah and author I. Vanzant both have the ability to show us ways to make our lives a better place to hang out in. This book is excellent . Oprah , chalk up writer on your list of…can do!

Couldn’t stop reading it once I started! The book speaks to all us women who have struggled with depression, feelings of looniness, unworthiness, purposeless, and even image problems! Oprah brings forth very personal stories that relate to most women I know including myself and the struggles we all face. She shares her struggles and how she overcomes her fears and demons! She inspires us with words of wisdom and guidance that are really inspiring ! I highly recommend this read! Not only once but every time your find yourself stuck, depressed, down or just need a reminder of how beautiful life is once you start being commuted to your self and loving yourself! ! It will definitely uplift your spirit! Thanks Oprah!

This book was a great read but even better in the audio version when you can hear it in her own voice. I can relate to what she is saying and it resonates deep within me. That might sound strange coming from a 72-year-old Black male. Oprah’s open and honest reflections allow me to like her, trust her, and move into action. She demonstrated that she has struggled with some of the same life challenges as we ordinary folks; she doesn’t place herself above or below anyone. The book exhibits her style and graciousness, which is in itself inspirational. I think that I am a better person for having read the book. Thanks! Oprah

I love this book . I didn’t grow up with a mom that talked to me or gave sound advice . I read a section of this book every morning with my coffee and I feel like I am sitting with mom, listening to wisdom through the pages . Thank you Oprah .

I LOVE this book. She has lots of sound advice, to be expected, but it was a great thing to feel like she was talking right to me. 🙂 I combined it with the audio version and it really is just a soothing thing to listen to. Oprah’s impressions of people are really funny as everyone sounds like an old Southern Man for some reason. LOL! I had a good time laughing at the things she said. I always respect her honesty and willingness to share pieces of herself that most keep private. She even recommended other books that I’m beginning. This has been my gift of choice for this holiday season.

This book has become a staple in our household that I have gifted, and re-gifted to so many people! If you are interested, the audio version of the book if read by Oprah herself, and gives you a different take on what she’s emphasizing through each lesson.I recommend you read this book one lesson at a time and keep re-reading it for a few days until you’ve caught on to what she’s trying to teach. That way you can really internalize the book and enjoy it throughout the entire year.I love it so much, that it has become a routine to read this book at least once a year and it’s cheaper on Amazon then anywhere else I’ve been able to find so far.

This book is inspiring and uplifting. After a stressful day, reading a passage helps put things into perspective. I will be using much of this advice in my daily life. I also like how the book is organized into brief passages and topics.

Although I have read the essays before in the “Oprah Magazine,” I truly enjoyed re-reading them. Every time I read one of the “What I Know for Sure” essays, I learn something about myself and my life. They cause me to reflect and acknowledge what I know for sure and what I need to learn about life and living a productive, prosperous life.
