This is book that we all need to read!!!! I have fallen in love with this book. The author takes you on a journey of the concept of the sugar jar. Yasmine is like the favorite aunt imparting wisdom and checking you with love all at the same time. I love the ease of the analogy the sugar jar. I’ve purchased a few copies for friends and clients. It’s so good until a friend of mine and I have purchased more copies in bulk. I’ll be passing them out like Oprah did cars. You get the sugar jar, you get the sugar jar, you get the sugar jar!!! We all need the sugar jar!!

I’m still reading this book. Yasmine Cheyenne has done the work. Then she put it into words. It’s not easy to reset your boundaries, which is the crux of this book for me. I believe that every author has the ability to say something in a new way that will reach a person that another author could not. I can’t put my finger on it, but I think it’s a tone of underlying self-value that that is resonating with me. Also, I appreciate Yasmine’s chapter on Black healing. It’s very poignant and kind, almost a reminder to offer yourself grace. I’m not a Black woman, but growing up poor in the rural south gave me a unique window to some hard dynamics. Maybe that’s why this book speaks to me.You, yourself, deserve the love you pour out for everyone else. That love is stored in your sugar jar. The more love you save for you, the more you’ll have for others, when you CHOOSE to offer them your love. The sugar in your jar is your love, your energy, your time. It’s finite. Learn to put the lid on good and tight.

I love the way this book helps us face hard truths with grace and gentility. Even though it’s not about grief, it has helped me so much with life after burying my only child and that’s definitely no small feat. Blessings to the author.

This book has related to me on so many levels. If you’re looking for personal growth. This is your book. She uses her experiences, which I’ve found, relate closely to mine, to help elevate her readers. Helping me to understand how boundaries of yours can also be unhealthy for others without verbalizing. Making me more aware is how I handle conflict. Great great read!

I’m only at the end of Chapter 2 but am loving this book and wanted to hop on and write a review. First and foremost, as an avid baker (who makes a living as a Marriage and Family therapist) I LOVE the sugar jar metaphor. I could quote whole pages but encourage you to just buy and read the book. Yasmine writes beautifully about energy (sugar) and how we are not all the same energetically (size of our jars.) She helps us unpack shame we might have about the size of our jars and helps us understand boundaries in a very nuanced way. She also unpacks racism with grace and love. As a white woman who wants all my sisters to heal, Yasmine speaks about how to hold space for others and not shut them down with denial, toxic positivity, or spiritual bypassing. She shares her own experience in healing circles that were damaging due to racism, toxic positivity, and spiritual bypassing. Again, she does this gently but strongly, the best way to lead, in my opinion. I am sure I am guilty of spiritual bypassing especially and also of having unconscious biases. A healer like Yasmine, who isn’t shaming but sharing, who shares her experience while encouraging everyone to heal, is just the kind of leader I need and I think our country needs as we struggle to heal racism and move forward from our traumatic history. I want to encourage everyone to buy this book for their own healing but also to better understand how to honor the healing paths of others. Lastly, Yasmine also writes about how everyone’s experience is different. She doesn’t put anyone in a box. She is a sweet and bright light in this world. I’ve been following her on Instagram for a few years and am thrilled to have her wisdom in a book. Go Yasmine! May the book be picked up by book clubs across our country and across the globe. 💕

Each time I put this book down I felt like I just ended a really great conversation (therapy session?) with the author! My book is dog-eared and marked up with all of the quotes and affirmations that deeply resonated with me. Each chapter includes the author sharing and breaking down a personal experience then ends with questions and affirmations for the reader. It’s a slower read, but likely because of all the processing and inner investigating each chapter stirs up.

This book is just what I needed. Heading into 2023 focusing on my self care and finding the “selfish me” that focusing on my happiness. A great read for anyone but I truly appreciate the Black perspective on topics that we are rarely considered when most authors put out books. LOVE IT and sent copies to several of my friends.

I received a hard copy as a gift during a particularly hard time. I was struggling to find time to read it (twin 1.5 y/o) and bought myself the audiobook. This book is changing my life. I’m gifting copies to friends who I hope will benefit from it too.I can’t wait to read everything Yasmine puts out next! I’m left wanting more and wishing I could grab a coffee with her. I really enjoyed the audiobook and getting to hear her words in her voice.

I loved the Sugar Jar podcast, IG by Yasmine Cheyenne and looked forward to reading the book for months. Finally, I received it in the mail. The book is honest, weaves with Yasmine’s personal stories, detailing her experiences as a parent, woman of color, veteran, and friend. Setting boundaries, valuing our time, self-worth is so important for women of color and underrepresented communities and far too often we drain our sugar jars, our energy, time, and attention. The Sugar Jar is a great book offering a framework for self-development, healing, that can be applied towards improvement and business strategy in personal and professional lives. This book is a gem, along with all the content Yasmine puts out on social media and her app, which are must-read, must-download, must-try and see. I highly recommend buying the Sugar Jar book, you won’t be disappointed.

This book is a must read! I’ve read several self help books on setting boundaries but this one is by far my favorite. I was captivated as soon as I started reading.I’ve done the work before, set boundaries but at the end of the year still felt depleted, exhausted, and burnt out. The metaphoric visual of the sugar jar is a quick easy way to check in with myself and keep an honest gauge of my capacity to give.So many things in this book resonated with me. I felt seen. I definitely recommend.

Beautifully written (and narrated via Audible) The Sugar Jar is an important book for those of us who are on the journey of self-healing, self-nurturing, and self-love. It is never too late to begin this journey and Yasmine Cheyenne so eloquently, and honestly makes this clear. I emphatically recommend this treasure.

The Sugar Jar is an absolute treasure of a book. It is the perfect mix of gentle and challenging. Filled with moments centered around compassion & accountability IN ADDITION TO personal storytelling from the author, the result is a powerful and impactful book. The Sugar Jar serves as a perfect companion as we walk into the New Year and/or for anyone who is feeling inclined to align and pivot some of their daily practices to achieve a more balanced & harmonious life. 5/5!

I truly enjoyed reading this book. I also purchased the audiobook for a 6hr road trip and ended up finishing it in one day. I intend to gift the physical copy to a close friend. While reading, I felt pulled in by Yasmine’s transparency and gentle ways she shares that we can tend to ourselves. I appreciate the accountability she states very clearly we have over our “jars” and others ability to access them. The advice, affirmations and even things to ponder weren’t strict and rigid, but gentle and fluid. I read this book feeling so very seen. As if Yasmine and I were chatting over a coffee table about life and ways we choose to move through it. I am so very grateful for this work and believe this is a must-read for 2023! Let’s heal in this new year!

This book is a really helpful tool in my healing journey. I was thinking sure where to start after feeling overwhelmed. It came out at the perfect time before the new year. Not only does it resonate but it has introduced helpful ways to fill my cup up. I appreciate this and I have underlined, highlighted and taken notes. Grateful to add this to my collection of self help and wellness books.

I first heard of this book when I saw it mentioned in Women’s World magazine. I knew I needed to read it. I was gifted this book by a member of a Facebook gifting group. The author writes with clarity and vulnerability. The changes she suggests are simple and lifechanging. This book helped me identify several issues in my own life and provided a roadmap to change them. This is not a quick fix. The author acknowledges it will require both time and hard work, This is a book that I will ponder for quite some time. It will stay with you long after the cover is closed. If, like me you struggle with things like difficulty asking for help, a lack of boundaries, or always putting yourself last, then you need to read this book.
