Ladies and Gentleman, This is a book I truly enjoyed and definitely needed. This book, The Little Black Book of Success: Law of Leadership for Black Women (TLBBOS) was a gift given to me ~10years ago by my mentor while I was in the officer ranks of the military. I used my original book so much….it got to the point that I needed to purchase another one. My mentor knew, as a young inner city black, smart, no non-sense Philadelphian, I needed help with my sharp tongue. It was very apparent to her I was never given professional survival skills or the “right” tools to use as a black female in the leadership world ( not all tools are in place for the black women to use) and most importantly, in the work environment leading other than black subordinates. I learned so much from this book; it gave me Pearls of Wisdom (POW) I still use and live by as a professional today. The book nickname is TLBBOS. For me and for many of my mentees, TLBBOS will always be a great reference that is easily retrieved, understood and believed. I am now a mentor to a group of professionals and this is the book I have purchased for each mentee and we have all agreed this book will be our “Bible” to use as Black and Educated (BAEs) professional in the challenging work force of today’s America. In addition to traditional prayer, we also look to use this book as our guidance as we discuss some of our unique and challenging experiences as BAE professionals. We are so thankful to the three dynamic women who realized black women are natural leaders but quit often they are not aware and even more of a problem, many of their employers and colleagues are not willing to accept them in the leadership equation. With TLBBOS black women will be cradled, awakened, groomed and guided using unique and personal tools by the three phenomenal authors on how to play the game in the work force and WIN.

The Little Black Book of Success is simply amazing. I have been waiting for a book on leadership that is for women of color for a long time. I have transformed from being “average” to “above average” in the workplace as I read this book and apply the principles. I wish I had this book when I graduated from college eleven years ago. Thank you so much.

I really enjoyed this book. I’m currently at my first job out of college and this book has been very helpful to me. I really appreciate this book since I’m the youngest person of color at my job. At times there are cheesy parts but the main content in the book has been very insightful to me. I recommend this book!

I happen to watch this author’s interview on FOX NEWS and I loved her passion to share a bit of reality that awaits young ambitioned, very able young ladies of color. I met a good friend’s daughter(13) who impressed me so telling me her best friend’s mother was prejudice so they had to hide their friendship. I said no she is an ignorant bigot! Her daughter was so sweet and pleasant to talk too. I thought of this book immediately and read the reviews, all positive many older women saying they wish they had it back in their day and couldn’t wait to gift it. I finally read one who gifted it to her neice (13) I was almost giddy when she told me she was ready for the workbook. Next paycheck..

This book was recommended by my sorority sister. Once I started reading I could not stop. I like the small chapters but they are PACKED with knowledge, action items and ways to look at yourself for development. This book was well written and felt applicable today despite the date of publication. I plan to encourage young women to read this book and apply it to their skillset upon graduating college. While reading I wondered how far along I could have been in my career if I’d read this book sooner. No complaints about yesterday that’s why I plan to pay it forward by sharing this book with others. After half way through, I purchased the workbook to slow down and really digest the material. The content is so applicable, you could re-read to help you deal with a situation and/or problem at work. BUY IT NOW and share!!’

Nobody ever teaches you proper etiquette, you try to act professional and appropriate, but sometimes you just need a little help. That is where this book comes in. I found several areas that I need to improve on and this book definitely helped me identify them. I would highly recommend.

This book is amazing. I got this because it was on my book clubs reading list. This book is of use to anyone woman, regardless of race. It provides wonderful insight into the career lives of successful women and how they got to the top. They also provide common pitfalls that many women make during their careers and how to work through those things. The most helpful thing I found about this book was that at the end of each chapter they give you a to-do-list, kind of like homework, for you to check on what your problem areas are and ways to improve them and just helpful information in general. It’s a great book.

This book is awesome! As a recent college graduate and young African American woman just starting her career, I would definitely recommend this book to other professionals.Even though this book speaks mainly to African American women I feel that overall it could be helpful to a woman of any race and, particularly helpful to a woman beginning her first “Big Girl” job. This book is extremely informative and covers a broad range of topics from attitudes and self-esteem to racism in the workplace. It also includes tips regarding controlling emotions in the workplace (something I find particularly challenging as a sensitive person) and how to communicate effectively with colleagues and managers. It also includes a few chapters about effective leadership styles.I’m glad I bought this book and find it to be extremely useful, so much that I often highlight important passages and write notes in the margins.

This book is a must-have for women of color of all ages. The book is full of nuggets of wisdom learned from all the women in your life but neatly compiled into one little book. I like the way the book is organized. My favorite component is the MAMAisms at the end of each chapter. You have to read it in order to understand. I do wish that some of the chapters were longer but have learned from the authors that a workbook is in process. I can’t wait! I would definitely recommend this book as a timeless resource.

I am actually still reading the book; however, it is very useful in self-reflection and learning how to hone in rather than remove or assimilate. I think every black women in college should be reading this in a DeCal class and doing some heavy analysis on it since there is not many black women in these particular positions willing, able, or accessible to dole out this pertinent information. Thanks for the signed copy as well as the bookmarks that came with book!!! 🙂
