I have already recommended this book to friends and colleagues – a must-read for those who want clarity on what equity means. The combination of lived experience, evidence to back up the assertions and practical tips for moving forward does it for me. And I will be returning to this book to refresh my memory and deepen my learning. And this quote towards the end says it all for me, ‘Data alone cannot change the world, tell compelling stories that speak to people’s values and identities in order to shift the debate.’

This is such an important book to read. So many people for starters don’t understand the difference between equity and equality (either getting them mixed up or thinking they are the same thing), and Jenny spends time helping readers to fully understand what they are and the traps that many people can fall into, even with the best of intentions. Packed full of stories, containing loads of useful tips and with Jenny’s lived experience, this is a must read for anyone wanting to get a better understanding of how to achieve racial equity at work.

Another fantastic book form Jenny Garrett. I have this as a paperback and audiobook. I have already recommended the book to a number of colleagues. Jenny writes in a clear concise manner. Jenny’s work weaves in narratives of real-world examples to illustrate points which are well-researched and based on evidence. It makes you stop and think about what we mean by Equity and what actions need to be taken to achieve It.
