okay, i get why the parents don`t like this book, but I read it wwhen I was 8, RECCOMENDED by my Guidence Counsler at the time. Often, i have read reviews on any of the Chicken Soup For The Soul series books, escpessially the ones by parents, and they all say the same things- “it should be rated R…”, “It`s not right for wyounger kids…”, “They really should rate this differently…” but this is the new generation, all these are TRUE stories, and think of it this way parents, it`s actually pretty educational. It teaches them lessons about drugs, how it can ruin your life if you do them, it tells you not to get pregers during your teen years!!!!! It teaches you, don`t play around with guns, fire, or anything else that could easily hurt you or other people surrounding you!!!!! These stories REALLY DO HAPPEN (!!!) and it`s a good book for younger kids to read `cause it will help them later on in life!

Me and my daughter enjoyed this book a lot. It tought me as a mother and my daughter soooo much about love and being loved. Some stories had my daughter in tears and some had here screaming of laughter. Please buy this for any girl that loves reading. A great investment in their education.

Okay I’m a parent of a 10 and 11 year old girls I get why you parents are upset I myself shelter my girls I promised myself they would be sheltered before I even had them here’s the thing though to all you parents complaining Life isn’t a fairy tale this book is real reels real stories and yes I do think it’s okay for 9 year olds to read because some 9 year olds actually have to live it I had to myself as a kid I can relate to more then a few of these stories it’s great your children have pampered life’s but they also should be educated about the lives of the not so pampered kids it will teach them to value their life and maybe not be so judge mental to other kids I think all kids should have to read this yes maybe a parent should discuss the book with them but don’t teach your child life is a big fairytale because it’s not and their going to have a rude awakening if you don’t let them learn now

I love all Chicken Soup for the soul books.Yet I especially loved this one.The stories are written by real girls of all ages about real stuff.The stories are sad,Happy,touching and sweet.My favorite was Home the story is about a girl who goes into a foster home who longs for a family.At thriteen she spent three months in the hospital for anorexia nervosa.She learns that she will be leaving the foster home that she has been in for the past 5 years and be going into another home. She’s sad and does’nt want to go .Yet this family decides to keep her and she becomes part of a family .These stories will have you laughing,crying and wanting more.I hope they make Chicken Soup for the girls Soul 2.

I bought this as a gift for my best friend’s little girl who was turning 10 and she loves to read. She had never read any of the Chicken Soup books before so I thought it was time for her to start! I was nervous about the content because at age 10 there are still things these young ladies do not need to know about or feel comfortable reading about but after reading the reviews on this one, I felt it would be appropriate enough. Once I recieved it, I sat down to read some of the entries to make sure I wouldn’t regret giving it to her. I swear, I must have read half the book…I remembered how much I loved them. When I gave it to her she immediately started reading them and couldn’t put it down…she wants more in the future. This book is recommended for girls in the 8+ age range.

I’ve been reading several of these books to my daughter in the hopes of helping her reach a higher emotional intelligence and survive the drama of tweenagehood. These books are beautifully written with amazing tools and psychology behind them. I have recommended them to every mother I know. I would have loved to have had these growing up. They have done an amazing job of simplifying personal developmental concepts that most kids don’t have access to until much later in life usually. I love the idea of investing in my daughters soft skills and helping her exceed on life through more then just what they teach you in school.

Love this book! Great for my 10 year old. It’s been a little hard to get my daughter back motivated in reading again and this book made a home run for the both of us! I started out reading with her then she couldn’t wait for me so she began to read the stories on her own. The book is both an enjoyment and a preparation on the middle school age life for the tween years.

I read this book when I was about 10 or 11, I am 24 now. I am writing this review because I saw someone on Facebook mention chicken noodle soup books and it reminded me of my experience of this book and how helpful it was to me. This book had such a great impact on me, it made me feel like I was not alone, made me feel better and more confident about myself. I was nervous having these sorts of discussions with my strict parents (when I checked this book out of the library I even hid it from them in fear of it starting a convo), but so desperately needed to hear this kind of stuff. I see some people wrote reviews that it is more for high school age, while still good then I’msure I’d recommend for the tween age. It could help your daughter feel more comfortable talking to you about topics discussed in the book and feel the power in being a girl/woman. I’m so happy I was able to read this book as a young girl!
