I lead a women’s prayer group and Bible study. Although we use several different Bibles and translations, this is one of the ones that the group prefers, and many women have purchased for their own use. I love the devotional readings from real Catholic women speaking about everyday life. It as section on various interest from angels to trust. I also wanted to study women in the bible which this bible has a special weekend section on every woman in the bible. This book explains their characters, where you can find them in the bible, their sorrows, and their joys along with a prayer. This book also has explainations to the Catholic Traditions as well. This book is great if you want a bible along with a understanding of the Cathloic faith. I have never been a big bible reader but now I have this book I have been reading it daily since I received it.

This book is just lovely. It has the holy scriptures, as well as some beautiful passages just for women. So many Bibles are designed for “non-Catholics” which is a shame, it seems we as a “religion” have shied away from reading the bible. As a faith, it is difficult to find a Bible that allows us to explore our faith and still be true to our catechism. There are so many wonderful bibles out there, but they don’t have that wonderful book of Tobit. Tobit 4:5 and on is so great and they only have it in the Catholic bible….buy one, and READ it. There’s nothing like a new bible to read and absorb and love, they become like old friends, but they are new every day.

An excellent Bible for the Rite of Christian Initation use with its list of daily Catholic Lectionary readings references. The NRSV translation is used in New Zealand as the lectionary text and there is no other devotional Bible available using this particular translation.It has wonderful devotional prayers and reflections, both contempory and traditional, for personal contemplation for all through the year. I first used this Bible in 2010 and all women to whom this Bible has been presented since, in my experience as an RCIA co-ordinator, have found it particularly supportive of deeping their spiritual journey upon joining the Catholic Church.
