Navigating life in the pandemic has been difficult for everyone; however, communities of color have borne the brunt of the health, economic, and educational consequences of this time. Specifically, during the pandemic BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) students have reported an increase in incidents of bias and a lack of support and understanding from their institutions. These race-related stressors, which can impact a student’s ability to succeed, can include experiencing microaggressions, imposter phenomenon, an invalidating campus climate, and mental health stigma. Being aware and becoming equipped to handle these concerns can help students not only survive but thrive.
