Me and White Supremacy: A Guided Journal: The Official Companion to the New York Times Bestselling Book Me and White Supremacy

Fight Racism, Change the World, and Change into a Good Ancestor with Me and White Supremacy

Creator Layla F. Saad wrote Me and White Supremacy to encourage individuals who maintain white privilege to look at their (usually unconscious) racist ideas and behaviors by a novel, 28-day reflection course of full with journaling prompts. This guided journal, which incorporates the guide’s unique weekly prompts and plenty of area for note-taking and free-writing, is the proper place to start your antiracism journey. You’ll unpack:

  • Week One: White Privilege; White Fragility; Tone Policing; White Silence; White Superiority; White Exceptionalism
  • Week Two: Colour Blindness; Anti-Blackness in opposition to Black Ladies, Black Males, and Black Youngsters; Racist Stereotypes; Cultural Appropriation
  • Week Three: White Apathy; White Centering; Tokenism; White Saviorism; Optical Allyship; Being Known as Out/Known as In
  • Week 4: Buddies; Household; Values; Dropping Privilege; Your Commitments.

Consciousness results in motion, and motion results in change. Create the change the world wants by creating change inside your self.

I found this to be a difficult read and project. It is accusatory and paints broad brush stroke over all whites, which I think is both legit in some ways and really over reach in others. Take your time and think a lot about what she has to say. Not all of it will apply, but much is useful in the realm of respect and communication with not just black people, but all races.
