I’m battling some heavy things right now. This book helped encourage me not to give in to the despair that seeks to paralyze me, but to keep hoping and watching for Easter Sunday because Good Friday does not last forever.

Max Lucado has such a gentle way of sharing God’s love and bringing his reading audience to a point of reassurance that there’s nothing too broken for God to redeem and restore. There’s nothing any man can do to make God love us more and nothing any man has done will make God love us less. He’s waiting for us to surrender our brokenness and our messes to Him. If you think there’s no way out of your mess, read this book and feel God’s loving presence around you. I resisted this book initially – I’m so glad I decided to open my heart to the message this book had for me. I’ll definitely use it as a reference guide and pray you’ll be blessed from reading it.

Oftentimes when we are going through tough times we need some short and quick reminders that everything is going to be okay. In this short treatment of the life of Joseph from the Old Testament Lucado reminds us: “”You’ll get through this. It won’t be painless. It won’t be quick. But God will use this mess for good. In the meantime don’t be foolish or naive. But don’t despair either. With God’s help you will get through this.”In retelling the story of Joseph the author takes time to provide ample applications (contemporary and ancient) to bring forth the principles that help us as we wait for God to bring forth good out of the messes in our lives whether we made them, inherited them, or we were the object of someone’s evil plans. Ultimately nothing can thwart the plans that God has for us, and that means that all things will work out for our good and God’s glory. The main idea brought out by Lucado in this book is that “in God’s hands intended evil becomes eventual good.”This short book would make a good gift or recommendation for Christians that are currently going through a rough time. Lucado’s story telling connects well with readers by continually making connections between the biblical subject and the relevant points to our own lives. Lucado has written a helpful manual for believers who need guidance in their pain by helping us trust in the God who always trumps evil for our own good.

I was just a little girl when I took a saying, my grandmother had on her wall, into my heart. It read, “The future is as bright as the promises of God”. I loved Jesus and my favorite story in the Bible was the story of Joseph and how God used him in a mighty way. Early on I saw the connection between this verse and my grandmother’s saying. I never could have imagined how this outlook would be tested in my life. Now, as a woman in her fifties, I find this book to be an incredible comfort and encouragement. Max Lucado took what was deep in my heart and helped me to make peace with my past. What Satan wanted to use to disqualify me could be turned to help encourage others. My divorce, a child suffering from drug addiction and mental illness and the betrayal of a family member, sentenced to life in prison, are all part of a divine reversal. God is good all the time! Thank you for helping me to keep my eyes on God and not my circumstances through this wonderful book!!

This is a nice little booklet, really. It is only 56 pages, but brings to life and remembrance the story of Joseph and how he, dumped in a pit by his brothers, mocked and hated, rose to be the ruler. You may not see the light at the end of the tunnel (or your pit of divorce, a scary diagnosis, foreclosure, job loss, family estrangement etc..) but Max Lucado provides insight and examples of how God has brought people “through” throughout the Bible and He will bring you through as well. There are also scriptures provided for the journey “through” to help you to keep the faith while on the journey.I recommend this book.

I loved this book because the Author used the stories of Biblical characters to demonstrate that their lives are the same as ours. For example Joseph was thrown in a pit by his brothers However the many obstacles he went through e.g.( imprisonment) we’re stepping stones to Spiritual freedom.. God used him for the “greater good”. We too will have misfortunes but we will arise victorious through Jesus Christ. Bible verses are used to further strengthen his line of communicating the Awesome God that we serve. Do not hesitate to purchase this book. It is about our own lives.

His recent phone call was completely different than his phone call from three or four days before he had received it. It has completely uplifted his mood and outlook. He even shared it with another inmate that was struggling to cope. I highly recommend that you send it to your loved ones that are imprisoned.

It doesn’t matter what scandals comes into the church or how divided the churches become, we have a commitment to doing God’s work. It seems like all churches have done the people in the churches have cast judgements on the decisions that the church makes the people become judge and leave the house of God and never come back to the Holy Father and have a bitter taste. Remember Jesus came to forgive and bring all sinners back to the church and bring division to the church. WE’RE DOES YOUR FAITH AND MY FAITH LIE. Is our faith strong enough to trust God.

He said after he read it he cried, and trust me my son doesn’t cry easily. He said, when he gets out, he wants to get baptized and work hard at staying off drugs and living a better life. Appears to be a book out that here by Max Lucado of the same name. Probably will get that as well.It helped me to see how the problems I have had where the enemy wished me harm that God in the long run used the situation in my life for good whether for me or others. Was so thrilled w it I sent a copy to my mom and a dear friend. While I could of gave my mom my copy I wanted to keep my copy. About a third of the pamphlet has useful scripture verses included.

Buy it! Read it! It will change your opinion of the grief you are suffering.I have been a Christian my entire life. Yes, there were many terrifically harsh experiences. I weatherd the storm while me and mine always landed on our feet. Then God put a mountain in front of me. I became seriously ill at a young age, (I think young) :). Raised four outstanding children as a single mom, sometimes worked two jobs, managed putting my children through a Christian Private School while dad walked off with a 19 year old girl/ child. Our oldest daughter was 18. Later I would become seriously ill and my longed for “land on your feet” experiences. Did not come. I held on while God gave me the strength. I could not have done it alone. I have always wondered “why?” Max Lucado’s book is another confirmation of God’s love for me and mine! Never, never give up….<3

I am new to Max Lucado’s books but find he is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. The first book I had the privilege of reading was “Give It All To Him”. This book changed my life. Coming from a very bad childhood I carried a big trash bag with me. As I read through his writings I could feel my hands start loosening their grip on the trash I had carried all my life.As I read this book I began to realize no matter what we go through, good or bad God will use it for his glory if we allow him to. I have so much change that needs to happen in my life and am thankful for authors like Max Lucado who have been gifted to help me find the doors that lead to the way out. I would encourage anyone who wants to leave behind all the baggage they carry to purchase this book and others by Max Lucado.

I have yet to read a book by MAX LUCADO that I didn’t like, and GOD WILL USE THIS FOR GOOD: SURVIVING THE MESS OF LIFE is no exception. As soon as I spotted the title I had to have it. It is in a sense my motto in life. What a great little book to share with others who are struggling with the valleys in life. GOD WILL USE THIS FOR GOOD: SURVIVING THE MESS OF LIFE may be small in pages, yet it is huge in content. Would make a great idea for a Bible study, and cheap enough to purchase one for each person.

I purchased this particular book due to my own experience with tremendous loss and pain. Sometimes it is difficult to understand the reasons why some suffer physical pain and hardship while others do not. Just when I begin to question my burden, I have been caught up short when reading another of Max Lucado’s numerous books. As a middle school principal, my secretary introduced me to Max Lucado with the book, “WHEN GOD CAME NEAR” ( hope this is the correct title!). More than 20 years and many Lucado books later, I have never been disappointed with the introduction!R. Stewart

Max Lucado gives inspiration to hold on and be calm when times get rough and tough because God will use them for good. The story of Joseph who was abandoned by his brothers, who later sold him in slavery, Joseph who was imprisoned became the second most powerful man in Egypt and saved people from famine. Max Lucado also included verses for inspiration.

I’ve listened to Max Lucado on the radio for years. Never realized how good of a Bible teacher he really was until I found a few samples of his books on the Kindle. I was hooked. His ability to communicate Bible Truth is second to none. And he has a Church which makes it that much more relevant because he is engaged in real ministry with everyday people. That does give him a grip on the reality of human problems and dealing with God’s People with real help from a Biblical point of view. The Bible is a very practical book if you learn a context not just a hodgepodge of verses. Then the Words become food for the Holy Spirit to move from your mind to your heart…then you have real faith in the Steadfast Love Of The Lord. Life is so much easier when we realize the Love of God is unconditional…never earned!

This book reminds me that God’s promises never abandon me. Over 70 years God has brought me through many crises, yet as if in the background. While I was in despair, in anger, in happiness, insecure, obvious, stupidity, God was in loving carrying me through with no help or understanding of mine. Can I even now after 70 years look forward to God’s care without fear, despair, foolishness, depression? No, but I will be constantly reminded of what blessings He has given me and that as in the past He will not abandon me.

Another good book by Max Lucado, which shows how God sees the big picture while we don’t always see the reason for the suffering and storms going on all around us here on earth. Max Lucado writes with a certain style that leave visual images in your head – he seems to see things on a deeper level than a lot of us and he knows how to put those into words. Thank you, Max Lucado, for another good book in helping us understand and draw closer to Jesus Christ!!

A short book with real depth. I loved how the author took the story of Joseph and brought it into my own life and struggled. Definitely need to purchase more to give out to family and friends. A wonderful addition to my library.
